This prairie family session at Lake Elmo, Minnesota was one of those golden evenings where everything just works. Open fields, warm light, and a family that was ready to have fun. We traveled out to the Lake Elmo Park Reserve area and let the prairie do what it does best.

Prairie locations give families room to spread out and be themselves. There’s no crowded park path or manicured garden to worry about. Just wide open space, tall grasses, and light that wraps around everything at golden hour. It’s the kind of setting where kids can run and parents can breathe.
Our favorite part of any family session is the moment everyone stops thinking about the camera. That is when the real magic happens. A look between siblings, a parent scooping up a toddler, the whole family cracking up at something only they understand. Those moments are what we’re here for.
