Little Ones, Big Memories: A Spring Milestone Session
That yellow knit outfit, the gold bow headband, the way she grinned every single time mom lifted her up. This spring milestone session at UW Arboretum had us smiling behind the camera from the very first frame.
Blooms, Blankets, and a Baby Who Stole the Show
The Arboretum was in full bloom when we arrived, and the color was everywhere: red and pink flowering shrubs lining the paths, white cherry blossoms overhead, green in every direction. We didn’t have to go looking for backdrops. They found us.
We have a thing for milestone sessions at this age. Babies are expressive, curious, and completely unpredictable. You set them on a blanket and they give you something new every ten seconds. That’s the good stuff. We pulled in tight for the detail shots, the little hands, the headband, and then went wide to let the garden do its work around her.
Mom and dad were relaxed the entire time, and honestly, that is when we do our best work. No stiff posing. Just the three of them sitting together on a blanket under the trees, holding their girl, leaning in close. The black and white frames from that stretch are some of our favorites from the whole gallery.
If you’re thinking about family photos in Madison, the Arboretum gives you variety that’s hard to beat. Garden beds, wooded paths, open fields. You can move through three completely different looks in a single session without ever feeling rushed. It’s one of the spots we recommend again and again.
When is the best time of year for a milestone session at UW Arboretum?
Late spring through early summer is ideal. The gardens are in full bloom, the light is soft in the evening hours, and there’s natural color everywhere you look. We typically recommend scheduling about an hour before sunset for the best conditions.
