The Best Kind of Chaos: Three Month Milestone

This little one showed up bright-eyed, feet kicking, absolutely ready for her moment. We knew within the first five minutes that this three month milestone session at our Garver Feed Mill studio was going to be a good one. She had opinions and energy. Honestly, she had better camera presence than most adults we photograph.

Tiny Details, Big Personality

We have a thing for the three month window. Babies are awake, curious, starting to flash those first real smiles. There’s a personality showing up that wasn’t there at two weeks old. We kept everything simple on our end: warm tones, wicker textures, knit layers. Let her do the work. She didn’t need much help.

Our studio inside Garver Feed Mill gives us complete control over light and temperature. With babies this age, that’s everything. No wind, no harsh sun, no unexpected distractions. Just a warm, quiet space where the baby runs the show. We pulled in close for the detail shots: tiny curled fingers, the lace edge of a romper, those soft expressions that last maybe half a second. Those are the frames that stop parents in their tracks. If you’re a new parent wondering whether a studio session is worth it, this is exactly why we love shooting here.

Then mom stepped in, and the whole energy shifted. The way she held her daughter, that forehead kiss, the look between them. That’s the frame that makes a three month milestone session feel like more than portraits. We always ask parents to be part of it because these moments don’t come back around. Babies change week to week at this age. The connection between parent and child at three months is something we genuinely love capturing.
