Running Wild: Wildflower Family Session

Golden hour, a wildflower field, and two boys who wanted nothing to do with standing still. That’s exactly the kind of energy we love. This wildflower family session at Garver Feed Mill in Madison gave us warm light, tall grass, and a family that was completely themselves from the first frame.

Let Them Run

We always tell families the same thing: just be yourselves. Chase each other. Be loud. Tickle someone. The real moments happen when everyone stops thinking about the camera, and this crew got there fast. Mom and Dad were relaxed and easy together, and the boys fed off that energy in the best way.

The wildflower fields behind Garver Feed Mill are one of our favorite spots in Madison for family photography. The tall grasses catch the last light in a way that makes everything feel golden and loose. We shot wide to let the landscape do its thing, then pulled in tight for the quieter stuff: a hand squeeze, a forehead kiss, two brothers cracking each other up.

That black and white frame of him kissing her hand while she laughed? We didn’t direct that. It just happened. Those are the ones that end up on the wall.

If you’re looking for family photos in Madison and you want something that actually looks like your life, this is the kind of session we live for. No stiff posing. No matching outfits required. Just your people, great light, and room to move. The gallery practically builds itself when the energy is right.

And honestly, that last shot of the brothers? It’s the one that gets us every time. Kids grow so fast. These are the frames that matter most a few years from now.
