Golden hour, a wildflower field, and two boys who wanted nothing to do with standing still. That’s exactly the kind of energy we love. This wildflower family session at Garver Feed Mill in Madison gave us warm light, tall grass, and a family that was completely themselves from the first frame.

The wildflower fields behind Garver Feed Mill are one of our favorite spots in Madison for family photography. The tall grasses catch the last light in a way that makes everything feel golden and loose. We shot wide to let the landscape do its thing, then pulled in tight for the quieter stuff: a hand squeeze, a forehead kiss, two brothers cracking each other up.
That black and white frame of him kissing her hand while she laughed? We didn’t direct that. It just happened. Those are the ones that end up on the wall.
