Warmth and Wonder: A Wildflower Meadow Family Session

Two boys belly-down in wildflowers, laughing so hard their shoulders shook. That’s the image that set the tone for this entire wildflower meadow family session at Mayberry Farms in Mayville. We hadn’t even finished setting up before the energy hit us, and honestly, that’s exactly how we like it.

Wildflowers, Golden Light, and Zero Posing

Mayberry Farms in spring is something else. The meadow was thick with color, purples and yellows and whites stretching out in every direction, and the late afternoon light made all of it glow. We shot wide to pull in the full landscape, then moved in close when the boys started being brothers. Tackling each other, whispering secrets, doing all the things kids do when you stop telling them to smile.

There’s a black and white frame from this session that still gets us. The two of them lying nose to nose in the grass, completely still for maybe three seconds. That kind of moment doesn’t happen because you ask for it. It happens because you’re paying attention and your finger is already on the shutter. We live for those frames.

And then there were the parents. Once the boys ran off to explore, mom and dad had a few quiet minutes together in the meadow. He kissed her cheek, she laughed, and the whole thing felt effortless. If you’re considering family photography in Wisconsin, a location like this gives you room to breathe. The kids can roam. The parents can be a couple for a minute. Everyone relaxes, and relaxed families are where we do our absolute best work.

The last group shot of the four of them wrapped up together, laughing at something one of the boys said. No stiff poses, no forced grins. Just a family being exactly who they are in one of the most beautiful fields we’ve ever shot in. That’s the whole point.
