The Sweetest Start: A Boho Newborn Girl Session
Lace bow headbands, earthy quilts, and the kind of stillness that only exists in the first two weeks of life. This boho newborn girl session came together in our Sun Prairie studio on a quiet spring morning, and every frame reminded us why we love this work.
Tiny Details, Big Feelings
We kept the palette soft for this one: warm neutrals, woven textures, and just enough floral to give the whole setup a relaxed, boho feel without competing with the baby. The styling choices this family made were spot on. Patchwork quilts, rustic wooden bowls, knit wraps. Everything had a handmade warmth to it, and we leaned into that with close, intimate framing.
One of our favorite moments was watching big brother settle in next to his new sister on that quilt. He was grinning so wide. We pulled in tight for that shot because the connection between the two of them told the whole story. No posing needed, just a kid who was genuinely proud to be a big brother.
Our studio gives us full control over light and temperature, which matters more than most people realize with newborns. Babies set the pace. If she needed a break, we paused. If she fell into a deep sleep, we moved through the setups quickly to capture as many looks as possible. That flexibility is something we build into every newborn session we photograph.
Then there was the moment she opened her eyes. Wide awake, staring straight up at us from that floral blanket, lace headband perfectly in place. We could have wrapped the whole session right there and called it a win. That one image has the kind of quiet alertness that parents come back to years from now and can’t believe how small she was.
If you’re expecting and thinking about newborn portraits in the Sun Prairie area, we’d love to talk through what a session looks like. These early weeks disappear fast, and having images like these to hold onto only gets more meaningful over time.
When should I book a newborn session with Twig & Olive?
We recommend booking during your second or third trimester so we can hold a tentative date around your due date. Newborn sessions are best within the first two weeks, when babies are sleepiest and most likely to curl into those cozy poses.
Can siblings and parents be included in a newborn session?
Always. Some of our most treasured images from any newborn session are the ones with big brothers, big sisters, and parents in the frame. We build time into every session for family portraits alongside the individual baby setups. Reach out and we can plan the details together.
