A Session Full of Love: Boho Summer Family Session
Bare feet, flowy fabrics, and a toddler who could not stop laughing. This boho summer family session in Lake Elmo, Minnesota had the kind of easy, free-spirited energy that makes our job feel effortless. We met up near Lake Elmo Park Reserve where the wildflowers were tall and the light was gold.

Connection Over Perfection
Our favorite thing about a boho-inspired session is how quickly everyone relaxes. The wardrobe says “just breathe.” The setting says “slow down.” And people actually listen. This family showed up ready to play, and that made all the difference. We barely had to direct anything. Just pointed the camera and let them be themselves.

Summer in Minnesota means long golden hours. The sun hangs low and warm for what feels like forever. That extended window gives us room to explore, to pause, to chase a toddler through the grass. No rushing. No watching the clock. That kind of breathing room always shows up in the final gallery.

After twenty-plus years of doing this, the sessions that stick with us are the ones where everyone just had fun. Tickle fights, belly laughs, real moments between real people. That is when we do our best work. Posed and stiff has never been our thing. If you’re looking for family photography that feels like your actual life, this is our kind of session.

Is Lake Elmo Park Reserve a good spot for family photos?
It’s one of our favorites in the Twin Cities area. The tall grasses, wildflower meadows, and open light make it ideal for relaxed, natural family sessions.
