Little Ones, Big Memories: Family in the Woods

Two brothers sprinting down a dirt path, cracking each other up while their parents sat tangled together on a blanket nearby. That was the first five minutes of this family in the woods session at Lake Louisa State Park. We knew right away these four were going to make our job easy.

Letting the Chaos Be the Photo

Lake Louisa gave us mossy oaks and soft dirt trails that filtered the late afternoon light into something warm and painterly. We didn’t have to do much directing. The boys were climbing everything in sight, and their parents just let them go. That’s the energy we look for.

One of our favorite frames came when the boys scrambled up a sprawling oak branch and grinned at each other like they’d conquered the world. Their younger brother stood below in the tall grass, beaming. We pulled in tight. That kind of sibling moment doesn’t wait around for you to adjust your settings.

Then there were the parents. When the kids were off exploring, these two had this quiet, easy connection that came through in every frame. We shot a few in black and white under the moss-draped oaks. That contrast between wild kid energy and the stillness between mom and dad is what makes a family in the woods session feel complete. If you’re considering a family session at Lake Louisa, the trails and tree cover give you so much variety without ever leaving the park.

These four were completely themselves the entire time. That is when we do our best work. No stiff smiles, no forced poses. Just a family being a family in one of the most beautiful parks in central Florida.

Frequently Asked Questions about Family Photography at Lake Louisa State Park

Is Lake Louisa State Park a good location for family photos?

It’s one of our favorites in the Clermont area. The moss-covered oaks, shaded trails, and open fields give us a range of backdrops in a single session. Late afternoon light filters through the canopy beautifully, which means softer, warmer portraits without harsh shadows.
