A Session Full of Love: Family Summer Wildflower Session

Late summer light and a field full of wildflowers. That’s all we needed. This family summer wildflower session at Cherokee Marsh had the kind of energy you can’t manufacture. A toddler fascinated by every bloom he could grab. A big sister who kept making him laugh. Two parents completely at ease with each other. We showed up with a loose plan and let the evening do the rest.

Wildflowers, Wicker Chairs, and Zero Posing

We brought a pair of little wicker chairs out into the field, and the kids took it from there. The baby grabbed a flower and studied it like it was the most important thing in the world. His sister plopped down next to him and just started talking. No prompting, no directing. We pulled in tight and let the frames stack up. Those unscripted sibling moments are the ones parents come back to years later.

Dad got his turn next. There’s a black and white frame of him holding his daughter that stopped us during editing. She’s grinning. He’s calm. The light wrapping around them is soft and golden. Sometimes one image tells you everything about a relationship.

Cherokee Marsh is one of those locations we keep coming back to. The tall grasses, the dirt paths, the way the light filters through the tree line. If you’re looking for family photography in Madison that feels relaxed and real, this is the kind of spot that makes our job easy.

The last shot of the evening was both parents kissing their baby boy on the cheeks. He thought it was hilarious. We converted it to black and white, and honestly, it might be our favorite frame from the whole session. That kind of joy is impossible to fake. These four were just themselves. That’s when we do our best work.
