Candid and Connected: A Floral Family Session

Flower crowns, bare feet, and three girls who could not stop laughing. This floral family session at Cedar Hill State Park near Dallas had the kind of energy that makes our job feel effortless.

Playful, Honest, and Completely Theirs

We always tell families the same thing: just be yourselves. Play, laugh, tickle, chase. The more natural the interaction, the better the photos. This family took that to heart. Dad was cracking jokes, the girls were spinning in circles, and Mom held the whole thing together with this calm, warm presence that grounded every frame.

Cedar Hill gave us gorgeous backdrops without trying too hard. A weathered barn wall, a redbud in full bloom, dappled light filtering through the tree canopy. We shot wide to take in the landscape and pulled in close when the real moments happened. That contrast between setting and spontaneity is what we look for in every family session.

The quiet moments surprised us just as much as the loud ones. A little girl leaning into her mom on a bench. Two sisters whispering something only they understood. Those are the images that end up on the wall, and honestly, they’re the ones we remember shooting. If you’re considering family photography in the Dallas area, a park like Cedar Hill gives you room to spread out and let the session breathe.

We’ve been photographing families for over two decades, and no two sessions look the same. That’s the whole point. Posed and stiff is never what we’re going for. The best images almost always come from the in-between: the tickle fight that erupts after we say “okay, one more,” the look a parent gives their kid when they think nobody’s watching. We got both here.
