Summer Blooms: Flower Farm Portrait Session at GardenView
Golden hour light spilling across rows of zinnias and sunflowers, a couple who couldn’t stop laughing, and color in every direction we pointed the camera. That was our flower farm portrait session at GardenView Flowers in Grand Rapids, Ohio, and it was one of those evenings where everything just clicked.
Color Everywhere You Look
GardenView is the kind of location that does half the work for you. Row after row of blooms in every shade imaginable, soft dirt paths winding between fields, and that warm Ohio summer light wrapping around everything. We barely had to direct these two. They wandered, they laughed, they pulled each other close, and we just followed with our cameras. That kind of ease is when we do our best work.
We shot wide through most of the session to let the landscape breathe. When you have this much texture and color surrounding a couple, pulling back tells the story better than going tight. But then one of them would lean in for a kiss or crack a joke, and we’d close the distance fast. Those shifts between the grand setting and the quiet, personal moments are what make a gallery feel alive.
If you’re considering a flower farm session for an engagement, anniversary, or just because, GardenView is worth the trip. The blooms peak in midsummer, and the light right before sunset turns the whole property into something almost surreal. We’d go back in a heartbeat. When is the best time to book a flower farm portrait session at GardenView?
Peak bloom at GardenView typically falls in July and August. We recommend scheduling your session about an hour before sunset for the warmest, most flattering light. Weekday evenings tend to be quieter, which gives us more room to explore the fields.
Does Twig & Olive travel to Ohio for portrait sessions?
We do. We travel for sessions all over the Midwest and beyond. If you have a location you love, whether it’s a flower farm, a city rooftop, or a family property, we’ll make it work. Reach out and tell us what you’re thinking.
