Together Is Our Favorite Place: An Outdoor Sisters Session
Wildflowers up to their waists, sunflowers in their fists, and three sisters who could not stop laughing. This outdoor sisters session at Mayberry Farms in Mayville was one of those evenings where we barely had to direct a thing.
Wildflowers, Sunflowers, and Zero Chill
Mayberry Farms is the kind of place that does most of the work for you. Rows of cosmos, black-eyed Susans, and sunflowers stretch out in every direction. The color palette shifts every twenty feet. We shot wide to let the landscape breathe, then pulled in close whenever the girls did something worth freezing.
And they did a lot worth freezing. Running through the rows, picking flowers for each other, collapsing into giggles on a quilt from home. Dad got pulled in for a group hug at one point, and the whole thing turned into a pile of laughter. That’s the stuff we live for.
If you’re considering a family session with young kids, our biggest advice is simple: let them move. Let them pick things up. Let them run ahead. The more natural the interaction, the better the gallery turns out.
Golden hour light at Mayberry Farms gave us everything we needed. It came in low and warm, catching the petals and the girls’ hair in a way that made every frame glow. This is the kind of spring evening that reminds us why outdoor sessions hit different.
When is the best time for family photos at Mayberry Farms?
Late spring through early fall is ideal, when the wildflower fields are in full bloom. We recommend booking an evening session about an hour before sunset so the light is soft, warm, and flattering for everyone.
