A Family Worth Celebrating: Spring Nature Family Session
Three kids, two parents, and one sprawling stretch of Texas hill country. This spring nature family session at Cibolo Nature Center in Boerne had exactly the kind of energy we love: loud, messy, full of laughter, and completely real.
Letting the Moments Happen
Every family has their own rhythm. Some are loud and playful. Some are quiet and snuggly. We don’t try to force one vibe over the other. We read the room (or in this case, the trail) and follow whatever’s already happening. With this crew, that meant a lot of running, a lot of giggling, and a few quiet moments tucked in between that caught us off guard in the best way.
The light filtering through those mossy oaks gave us a soft, even glow for most of the session. We barely had to think about positioning. The canopy did the work, and we just kept shooting. If you’re considering family photography in Boerne, Cibolo is one of those spots where the setting practically collaborates with you.
Our favorite frames from the day weren’t the ones we planned. They were the toddler twirling her dress at golden hour. The siblings tackling each other on a blanket while mom and dad just held on and laughed. That’s the stuff you actually want on your walls.
We pulled in close for some of these sibling moments because that’s where the tenderness lives. Then we pulled way back for the trail shots, letting the landscape do the talking. That contrast between intimate and wide is something we always chase during a Boerne family session.
Is Cibolo Nature Center a good spot for family photos with young kids?
It’s one of our favorites in the Boerne area. The wide trails are easy for little ones to explore, and the oak canopy provides soft, even light without harsh shadows. There’s enough variety in the landscape to keep things interesting from frame to frame.
