All the Feels: Summer Sunset Wildflower Session
Golden hour light pouring through rows of zinnias and sunflowers, two kids who could not stop laughing, and parents who were completely themselves the entire time. That’s what this summer sunset wildflower session at Schuster’s Farm gave us, and we loved every frame.
Wildflowers, Warm Light, and Zero Pressure
We timed this session for the last hour before sunset, and the light delivered. It came in low through the flower rows, turning everything warm and soft. That kind of light is forgiving in the best way. It wraps around faces, catches the edges of hair, and makes colors pop without us doing a thing.
Schuster’s Farm is one of those spots where the backdrop does a lot of the heavy lifting. Sunflowers taller than the kids. Zinnias in every color. Vintage farm equipment tucked along the edges. We shot wide to pull in the full landscape, then pulled in tight for the quiet moments between family members. The contrast gave us a gallery with real range.
The kids were the stars here. One second they’re sprinting down a row of sunflowers, the next they’re leaning into Mom with this look of total contentment. We don’t direct moments like that. We just stay ready. After twenty years of family photography, we know the best images happen in the spaces between poses.

Late July through early September is the sweet spot. That’s when the sunflowers and zinnias are at their peak. We schedule sessions during golden hour, typically the last 60 to 90 minutes before sunset, for the warmest, most flattering light.
