Color Everywhere: A Wildflower Maternity Session

Pink zinnias, towering sunflowers, and a little girl who could not stop picking favorites. That’s what greeted us at Mayberry Farms for this wildflower maternity session. Within five minutes we knew the gallery was going to deliver.

Peak Bloom and Golden Hour at Mayberry Farms

Timing matters here. Mayberry Farms hits peak bloom for a handful of weeks in late summer, and this family landed right in the middle of it. Sunflower rows stretched overhead. Wildflower patches spread out in every direction. The late evening light turned everything warm and soft. We shot wide through the rows early on to capture the sheer scale of the place. When a location hands you that much color, you let it breathe.

Their daughter stole the show. She spent most of the session running through the rows, collecting sunflowers, holding them up like prizes. We pulled in close for those candid stretches because they’re the frames this family will come back to. Her energy was completely unscripted. Honestly, that is when we do our best work.

Once the little one had her fill, we carved out a few quiet minutes with just the two of them. The wildflower patch behind the main sunflower rows was all soft pinks and purples. That contrast against the warm light gave us frame after frame we loved. There’s something about a couple settling into stillness after chasing a toddler. The tenderness just shows up on its own.

If you’re expecting and considering a maternity session at Mayberry Farms, aim for late July or early August. Book the last hour before sunset. The combination is hard to beat. Browse more of our maternity and newborn work to see what we mean.

Frequently Asked Questions about Maternity Sessions at Mayberry Farms

When is the best time to book a wildflower maternity session at Mayberry Farms?

Peak bloom typically falls between late July and mid-August, though it shifts a bit each year. We recommend reaching out early in your second trimester so we can coordinate timing with both your due date and the farm’s bloom window.

Can I bring my kids to a maternity photo session?

We love it when families bring the whole crew. Some of our favorite images from this session came from the older sibling just being herself in the flowers. We’ll build in time for the kids to play and also set aside a few quiet minutes for just the two of you.
