Wrapped in Sunshine: A Schusters Farm Newborn Mommy Session

Golden hour light pouring through sunflower stalks, a brand new baby curled against her mama’s chest, and the kind of quiet that only exists in the first few weeks of life. This Schusters Farm newborn mommy session was one of those evenings where everything just aligned.

Sunflowers, Zinnias, and a Whole Lot of Light

We’ve photographed at Schuster’s Farm before, and every time it gives us something different. This particular evening, the sunflower rows were at their peak, the zinnias were ridiculous, and the light was doing that thing where it goes from warm to absolutely liquid gold in about twenty minutes. We shot wide to let the flowers fill the frame, then pulled in tight for the moments that mattered most.

This mama was completely at ease, and honestly, that is when we do our best work. No stiffness, no overthinking. Just her and her baby in a field of flowers, breathing it in. She’d kiss her daughter’s forehead, shift the blanket, look down with this expression that was half wonder, half disbelief. Those are the frames we live for.

Outdoor newborn sessions take a little extra planning. We keep them short, we time them around the baby’s schedule, and we bring everything so mom doesn’t have to think about a thing. The payoff is a backdrop no studio can replicate. Wildflower fields, open sky, natural light wrapping around both of them. If you’re considering a mom and baby wildflower photos session, a spot like this is hard to beat.

We pulled the final image to black and white because sometimes stripping away color lets you see the tenderness more clearly. Her hands, the baby’s tiny fingers, that knit blanket tucked just so. It’s quiet and simple, and it might be our favorite frame from the whole session. Check out more of our work on our newborn and maternity photography page.

Frequently Asked Questions about Newborn Sessions at Schuster’s Farm

When is the best time of year for an outdoor newborn session at Schuster’s Farm?

Late summer through early fall is ideal. The sunflower and zinnia fields are in full bloom, and the golden hour light is warm and soft. We recommend scheduling within the first two weeks after baby arrives so we can time the session with peak blooms.
