Wildflowers and Family: A Maternity Session at Mayberry Farms

Two kids who couldn’t sit still, a field full of black-eyed Susans, and a baby on the way. This wildflower family maternity session at Mayberry Farms in Mayville was one of those golden hour evenings where the light just kept giving. We’ve photographed this family before. Getting the call to come back for the next chapter felt less like a booking and more like catching up with people we genuinely care about.

Mayberry Farms in Full Bloom

If you’ve never been to Mayberry Farms during peak bloom, picture stems taller than your toddler. Color in every direction. Light that softens right when you need it to. We shot wide to let the landscape breathe. Then we pulled in tight for the in-between moments: a whispered joke, a hand on a belly, a kid reaching for the nearest flower. The setting is gorgeous on its own, but it’s the people standing in it that make a gallery worth coming back to.

Big brother cracked jokes the entire session. Little sister explored every bloom she could reach. Together they gave us frame after frame of unscripted joy. That’s the kind of thing you can’t direct. You just have to be ready. We always tell families to let their kids be kids, and this crew ran with it (literally, through the flowers).

Returning families are one of the best parts of what we do. Watching kids grow. Seeing a family expand. Being trusted enough to show up again. It never gets old. The session wrapped with quiet couple portraits in the last golden light, just the two of them in the field while the kids played nearby. That contrast between chaos and calm is something we live for. A wildflower family maternity session like this one reminds us why we chose this work. If you’re looking for maternity and family photography in Wisconsin, we’d love to hear your story.

Frequently Asked Questions about Maternity Sessions at Mayberry Farms

When is the best time for a wildflower maternity session at Mayberry Farms?

Peak bloom usually lands in mid to late summer, though the exact timing shifts each year. We recommend reaching out early so we can watch the fields together and schedule your session when color and light are at their best.

Can I bring my kids to a maternity session?

We encourage it. Some of our favorite maternity images include the whole family. Kids bring an energy that posed portraits can’t replicate. A spot like Mayberry Farms gives them room to explore while we capture everything. Get in touch and we’ll plan a session that works for your crew.
